Day 2, 3 and 4 of my 30 Day challenge!

Typical; I start a 30 day project and on the second day my internet goes down! But I’m back now and ready to update you on the past 5 days. It’s been a busy and a hectic week but I’ve really enjoyed broadening my knowledge and trying new things!

On Tuesday and Wednesday, day 2 and 3, I spent the majority of the morning and afternoons in London having an interviews at Reuters, a global multimedia company and Ocean Media, a publishing and events company. Both were in the same area and it was the first time I’ve ever been to Canary Wharf. I took this as an amazing opportunity to tick off a number of things off my list! I wore a skirt/dress AND heels to both my interviews and afterwards I explored the area whilst I was there. When I wasn’t gallivanting around London I was at home using a new app I had downloaded to help improve and teach myself new languages. (See, I told you I’ve been busy.)

Wearing a skirt, dress and heels might not sound like much, but to someone like me who isn’t used to putting herself out there; it was a big step towards boosting my self confidence. Don’t get me wrong, I like how I look, I’m just normally more comfortable in jeans and a top (okay, jumper). I don’t enjoy being stared at, so I tend to cover myself up. However, pushing myself outside of my comfort zone and wearing something ‘girly’ but sophisticated made me feel really good. I actually had a smile on my face all day, especially when a random person said I looked lovely and another said they loved my fashion sense! For me it was knowing that I did it for ME that made it such a big success. I am so lucky to have a boyfriend who makes me feel beautiful, but I have to feel it for myself too. By the end of Wednesday I still had a big grin on my face and I’ve already bought another dress. I won’t change my style completely; I’m a jeans girl at heart, but knowing now that I can go out in something more ‘revealing’ without feeling silly is a wonderful thing. I hope to keep pushing these little boundaries and hopefully one day I’ll feel completely comfortable in wearing anything.

Whilst in Canary Wharf, I visited the shopping centre, walked around a few of the blocks, had lunch in Wasabi (I LOVE Wasabi) and sat next to the Thames. Yes, it was freezing, but it was also exhilarating. I love exploring new areas and although Canary Wharf is very much a business location, it has some beautiful modern architecture and a lovely little park that I ventured into. The shops are amazing; there is a strong possibility that I may have definitely pressed my nose up against the window of Tiffany & Co. A girl can dream, huh?

On my train journeys home, I was using Duolingo, an app that teaches languages, to help better my existing German. It’s free and assists you in your written, spoken and reading! It’s really easy to use and I’m spending at least 20 minutes each day on it. I think I’ll have to revisit Germany to become truly fluent, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction. I think I might start learning French too… or Spanish! Look it up; I really recommend it!

On Thursday I had a slightly more relaxed day… until I did Zumba and went jogging for the first time. Yes, the first time EVER. I have back and neck issues so this was really quite tough for me. I found it got slightly easier over time but my muscles were so sore after! I liked building up a sweat and feeling the ‘burn’. I’m hopefully going to be getting my bike serviced in the next week or two and then I’ll start cycling as well. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll have seen me post a picture of myself in my delectable workout gear. I’ve been doing Zumba for 3 days now and I feel good! If I can dance and tone up at the same time, then I am there!
In the evening I had a lovely film-night with my family; we watched The Internship with Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn. It was actually great – a real feel good film. It’s definitely one I will watch again. If you fancy something light-hearted and comedic, definitely go for this.

I’ll leave it there for now; I’ll continue my catch up tomorrow. In keeping with my 30 day challenge theme, I’ve also planned to meet up with 3 old University friends next Wednesday in South London at a film night/party where I’ll get the chance to meet new people and visit a new area too. I’m also going to the London Aquarium, as I’ve never been, and I have a girly day planned with my mum too. Phew!

What great things have you done recently?
