Anything Can Happen

So, I have a little announcement to make… If the above picture doesn’t give it away somewhat, then let me just say I’m a super-duper ball of excitement at the moment!! Next Tuesday I will be starting my NEW job as Junior Digital Designer at Lipsy!! It’s still sinking in that I got the position and that I will be working for a brand I love! I’m of course, nervous, but my enthusiasm and determination far exceed the butterflies. The Head Office is in London at Oxford Circus – one of my favourite areas! It’s a job that will help train and develop my skills so that, hopefully, in a few years, I can become a Senior Digital Designer! I literally can’t wait to get started! I consider myself to be very lucky – getting a job in the fashion industry with a brand that I greatly respect and who will help me grow and build my career is a dream come true for me, especially considering the economic climate and lack of jobs available. …

Goodbye, Maggie

“If you lead a country like Britain, a strong country, a country which has taken a lead in world affairs in good times and in bad, a country that is always reliable, then you have to have a touch of iron about you.” Ask me, “Are you proud to be British?”, and 9 times out of ten, my answer will be yes. Very rarely am I made to feel disgusted or upset at my country, especially when I am not a very political person. At almost 24, I am far too young to have known or lived under the rule of Margaret Thatcher. I was, however, brought up to respect not only my elders, but those who have influenced, inspired and left their mark, for the better, on our country. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, of course. I couldn’t possibly understand how those who lived under her time in Office felt. But neither could I EVER celebrate and have a party over the death of someone who played such a monumental role in British …

Clarins Liquid Bronze Self Tanner, This Works Perfect Look Skin Miracle, Soap & Glory Glow Getter

Be Gone, Winter!

Okay, I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not a ‘lady who tans’. I know what you’re thinking! Shocking news, right? When I am out in the hot sun I tend to burn the majority of the time, regardless of my factor 50+ sun cream. That said, I’m not one to actively try and tan, either. I wear moisturisers and products with SPF every day, even in winter, because my skins well-being is very important to me. Most people I meet, men and women alike, spend a lot of time on building their tans and think being pale is awful. That’s okay, we’re all entitled to our opinions – but to me, my health far exceeds the need for ‘a tan’. My strict routine must be working somewhat, I’m frequently mistaken for looking 14! Ha! I did try a fake tan once, last July. The whole process went okay, but after the colour set in, I looked ridiculous. Seriously! It was the lightest shade (is that the term?!), but I looked like I had rolled …

March Roundup

My God, is it April already?? Where has the time gone! Spring hasn’t even properly sprung and yet we’re coming to the end of the first quarter of the year! Cripes. Anyway, I’m starting a new kind of post, a monthly round-up. As you can tell by the pictures above, this isn’t about one particular area, but a multitude. From TV and film to beauty and fashion I will be talking about my favourites, loves and new discoveries. WARNING: Serious geekiness is about to ensue… Doctor Who OH EM GEE it’s back!! I know we had the traditional Christmas episode, but I’ve been SO looking forward to this! I love Matt Smith more than is probably considered decent and to top that off the new companion, Oswin, is a character I’ve already grown to adore too. I wasn’t a fan of Amy Pond (I’m aware I may have lost some of you already, but bear with me), but this assistant is sassy, intelligent, brave and a challenge for our beloved Time Lord. The chemistry between …

Decleor Aroma Purete Imperfections Roll’On

I don’t know about you, but I’m one of those people who’s tried pretty much every spot treatment available in the agonising hope that the next new purchase will be the ‘miracle’ product that actually helps reduce my redness and spot size/development when I need it. Creams, gels, sprays – you name it, I’ve tried it. I’ve naturally got oily/combination skin, but it seems prone to drying too. Even natural tea-tree oil causes my skin to peel, which we all know is NOT a good look, especially when you need to conceal for work or a night out. So it was on a complete whim that I brought the Decleor Aroma Purete Imperfections Roll’On from Feel Unique. I was repurchasing my regular skincare and actually needed to buy one more Decleor product to get a free gift set worth £60. I thought I’d give the spot treatment a go and I’m so glad I did! The treatment has a blend of 5 specially selected Essential Oils effective especially on combination to oily skins. Many people …

My Favourite Perfumes

I love perfume. No matter what I’m doing or where I’m going, I always spritz myself in the morning – it makes me feel ready for the day and just that little bit more confident. I think that because I’m naturally more of a tomboy, this gives me a little feminine edge. I get my mini-obsession from my mum, who owns just about every Chanel & Dior scent ever made – including the originals made about 40 years ago. Her collection is so impressive; I might have to sneak a few into mine…(shh). But to me, perfumes and fragrances are a form of personal expression that gives you a tiny little insight into the personality of the wearer. Are they someone who likes a strong, spicy scent or someone who prefers a fresh and soothing smell? I find it so interesting! For example, I have a friend who loves Miss Dior. I took a whiff, almost gagged and had an awful headache that lasted all day. Crazy, right? I’m a huge fan of Dior, but …

CV Update

I’ve recently updated my CV again, seeing as I finished my last job experience on the 7th of February. I decided to keep this one much simpler and tad more professional. I still love my previous version, but I wanted a design that I felt was appropriate for all applications! I’ve used my favourite, spring-time colour of light blue, which psychologically it is seen as ‘trustworthy, dependable and committed’. It’s the least gender specific colour so it will appeal to both men and women too! It also aids intuition and impulse, so hopefully it will inspire recruiters to take a chance on me! Let me know what you think!

Goodbye 2012, Hello 2013!

Okay, so I’m technically about 2 months behind on this post; though actually the events of the past 8 weeks have both shaped and helped me decide not only what I want from this year but what I want in the future. But first, Im going to quickly recap over the highlights of last year. I could probably go on forever about how wonderful 2012 was, but I won’t! I decided to separate the best experiences into categories to make it easy and to the point! A sort-of ‘Best off’ collection! So here goes… Best Film of 2012: ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. Without a shadow of a doubt. A masterpiece in every aspect. Best Experience of 2012: Without doubt, it’s getting to go to the Olympics and Paralympics. I was lucky enough to see Gemma Gibbons go to Silver in the Judo as well as getting to go to the Paralympic Closing Ceremony too. Seeing Coldplay live and sharing the atmosphere with everyone was beyond words. It was so sad that it all came to …

Happy Valentine’s Day…. To EVERYONE

Ahh, it’s that time of year again. I’ve never really been one for Valentine’s Day, regardless of whether I’m in a relationship, dating or I’m single. I do personally think it’s a bit materialistic – why should there be one specific day of the year to show your love, when you should be expressing your true feelings all year round? Whether it’s by simply saying “I love you”, getting married, buying a gift or a cuddle – it doesn’t matter. However, if you choose to celebrate it and buy gifts, then that’s great. I genuinely hope you all enjoy spending time with your significant others! What’s been getting to me the past few weeks, is the amount of emails, blog posts and friends that I’ve read or spoken to that put such a HUGE emphasis on the ‘importance of being in a relationship’. Let me tell you something, I have been completely single for 2.5 years. By choice. I’ve dated a few times, but was never truly interested. But much to my surprise, I seem …

Comedy 101 #1

Okay, so this is a new idea, so bear with me if it starts off a little rough… I decided that with the cold winter months, the increase in travel prices, household bills and the pain of commuting (and finding a damn seat) is enough to make even the most easy-going person want to kick something. Basically the idea of these posts is for me to share something funny and light-hearted in the hope that it will cheer you all up and at least put a smile on your face! Please note, I intend to please, never offend, so apologies if you don’t like any of what I post. I warn you, cats will probably feature quite a lot. I can’t help it, I’m a crazy cat lady. Anyway, I hope you enjoy today’s post! x

50 Facts About Me

>I’ve seen quite a few bloggers do a post like this recently, so I thought I’d jump on the bandwagon and join in on the factual fun. Here goes… 1. I am an unidentical twin. My brother and I are literally opposites of each other. He’s the evil one, obviously! 2. I hate the smell of tangerines. It literally turns my stomach. 3. I travelled on my own for the first time last year when I flew to what is now, one of my favourite places – Edinburgh. (That was kind of a 2 for 1 there. Let’s just say I’m feeling generous!) 4. My cats are my family and my world. I’ve grown up with felines all my life and when I retire in many many years to come, I plan on opening up a cat sanctuary to take care of homeless kitties. 5. I believe comedy can cure anything. The world can always be righted with laughter and a smile. 6. If I hadn’t gone in to design, I would have been an …

2013 In Film: My Most Anticipated Movies Part 1

Okay, so there are some seriously good films coming out this year. I’ve been reading far too many updates and watched more trailers than is probably considered healthy. I’ve *somehow* whittled it down to my top 5, and the next best 10. But fear not… I’ve broken this post down into 2 different parts, so as to hopefully keep you lot from getting bored! Today we’ll look at my 5 favourites. A couple of these were easy for me, for the others I had to really try and be picky… You’re lucky really, this post almost contained about 30 films. Right, lets start… 1. Man Of Steel – 14th June 2013 All right, who’s surprised this ones here? No one? I thought so. Not only does this film feature my future husband as the hero himself (shut up), but it also has my favourite composer Hans Zimmer behind the musical wheel. Already this film can do no wrong! The trailer had me hooked in seconds. Giving the audience a glimpse of the action; what looks …

YSL Touche Éclat Foundation Review

‘Illuminating Foundation Dimensional Radiance Weightless Perfection’ This has been my foundation of choice for months now. I love ADORE my Touché Éclat – it’s one of my beauty must-haves – so to see it coming out as a foundation gave me a bit of a joygasm. I hadn’t spoken of it till now because I’m a firm believer in giving a base product like this, a thorough test-drive and usage. I’m shade BD40, which is ‘Golden Beige’ – a match I found particularly surprising! My skin has more pink undertones rather than yellow/warm and in Winter months I’m especially pale and lack any form of colour (or life ha!). It makes sense then, that when I was colour matched back in July I would have had some colour in my cheeks! Just a smidge, mind. I’m incapable of a tan! That aside, this shade still works on me. During the past few months I have been using less so as not to overdo it on my paler skin. To apply I use my Real Techniques …
