Clarins Liquid Bronze Self Tanner, This Works Perfect Look Skin Miracle, Soap & Glory Glow Getter

Be Gone, Winter!

Okay, I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not a ‘lady who tans’. I know what you’re thinking! Shocking news, right? When I am out in the hot sun I tend to burn the majority of the time, regardless of my factor 50+ sun cream. That said, I’m not one to actively try and tan, either. I wear moisturisers and products with SPF every day, even in winter, because my skins well-being is very important to me. Most people I meet, men and women alike, spend a lot of time on building their tans and think being pale is awful. That’s okay, we’re all entitled to our opinions – but to me, my health far exceeds the need for ‘a tan’. My strict routine must be working somewhat, I’m frequently mistaken for looking 14! Ha! I did try a fake tan once, last July. The whole process went okay, but after the colour set in, I looked ridiculous. Seriously! It was the lightest shade (is that the term?!), but I looked like I had rolled …

March Roundup

My God, is it April already?? Where has the time gone! Spring hasn’t even properly sprung and yet we’re coming to the end of the first quarter of the year! Cripes. Anyway, I’m starting a new kind of post, a monthly round-up. As you can tell by the pictures above, this isn’t about one particular area, but a multitude. From TV and film to beauty and fashion I will be talking about my favourites, loves and new discoveries. WARNING: Serious geekiness is about to ensue… Doctor Who OH EM GEE it’s back!! I know we had the traditional Christmas episode, but I’ve been SO looking forward to this! I love Matt Smith more than is probably considered decent and to top that off the new companion, Oswin, is a character I’ve already grown to adore too. I wasn’t a fan of Amy Pond (I’m aware I may have lost some of you already, but bear with me), but this assistant is sassy, intelligent, brave and a challenge for our beloved Time Lord. The chemistry between …

Decleor-Spot-Treatment-Roll-On

Decleor Aroma Purete Imperfections Roll’On

I don’t know about you, but I’m one of those people who’s tried pretty much every spot treatment available in the agonising hope that the next new purchase will be the ‘miracle’ product that actually helps reduce my redness and spot size/development when I need it. Creams, gels, sprays – you name it, I’ve tried it. I’ve naturally got oily/combination skin, but it seems prone to drying too. Even natural tea-tree oil causes my skin to peel, which we all know is NOT a good look, especially when you need to conceal for work or a night out. So it was on a complete whim that I brought the Decleor Aroma Purete Imperfections Roll’On from Feel Unique. I was repurchasing my regular skincare and actually needed to buy one more Decleor product to get a free gift set worth £60. I thought I’d give the spot treatment a go and I’m so glad I did! The treatment has a blend of 5 specially selected Essential Oils effective especially on combination to oily skins. Many people …

My-Favourite-Perfumes

My Favourite Perfumes

I love perfume. No matter what I’m doing or where I’m going, I always spritz myself in the morning – it makes me feel ready for the day and just that little bit more confident. I think that because I’m naturally more of a tomboy, this gives me a little feminine edge. I get my mini-obsession from my mum, who owns just about every Chanel & Dior scent ever made – including the originals made about 40 years ago. Her collection is so impressive; I might have to sneak a few into mine…(shh). But to me, perfumes and fragrances are a form of personal expression that gives you a tiny little insight into the personality of the wearer. Are they someone who likes a strong, spicy scent or someone who prefers a fresh and soothing smell? I find it so interesting! For example, I have a friend who loves Miss Dior. I took a whiff, almost gagged and had an awful headache that lasted all day. Crazy, right? I’m a huge fan of Dior, but …

YSL Touche Éclat Foundation Review

‘Illuminating Foundation Dimensional Radiance Weightless Perfection’ This has been my foundation of choice for months now. I love ADORE my Touché Éclat – it’s one of my beauty must-haves – so to see it coming out as a foundation gave me a bit of a joygasm. I hadn’t spoken of it till now because I’m a firm believer in giving a base product like this, a thorough test-drive and usage. I’m shade BD40, which is ‘Golden Beige’ – a match I found particularly surprising! My skin has more pink undertones rather than yellow/warm and in Winter months I’m especially pale and lack any form of colour (or life ha!). It makes sense then, that when I was colour matched back in July I would have had some colour in my cheeks! Just a smidge, mind. I’m incapable of a tan! That aside, this shade still works on me. During the past few months I have been using less so as not to overdo it on my paler skin. To apply I use my Real Techniques …

Figs & Rouge Lipbalm

Figs & Rouge Coco Vanilla Lipbalm Review

Okay, so I know I’ve been a bit MIA at the moment, but there is a very good reason for that. I’ll go into more detail at a later date… Preferably when I’m not sitting at my computer falling asleep against the keyboard. I just wanted to do a quick review on this little gem. I’ve been using it for a few months now and it’s actually a joy to have! It is a scrub for the lips that when rubbed in gently, turns to a kind of Vaseline/gloss. One thing I particularly love is that it isn’t one of these lip products that lasts all of 5 seconds – this balm is wonderful as well as softening and moisturising; it stays on your lips for ages and stops mine from cracking, which is a HUGE issue for me in Winter. It also makes a great base for a lipstick or tint. The only thing that makes it even more amazing is the smell of vanilla. It’s one of my favourite scents and it isn’t …

I'm Loving... Kerastase

I’m Loving… Kérastase

It’s been SUCH a long time since I wrote on here. I have full respect for bloggers who can juggle full-time jobs, relationships, social lives, kids and STILL find time to write on their blog! I’ll be posting a lot more soon, though… more info to follow soon! (Oooh, how secretive of me). My post today is on the four Kérastase products that I’ve been using the past 3 weeks. My hair has been to hell and back since the beginning of June, and these products have helped bring it (and me) back to sanity. I made the mistake of trying to dye my hair back to a medium/dark brown. Only, it went black. Not brown/black, but JET black. As a girl who flies her pale flag with pride, I looked just awful! You can imagine what a state it was! I looked like I was barely alive, which is not a style I usually go for. I found a hairdresser who, THANK GOD, managed to bleach my hair and get rid of it. The …

Benefit Bestival Looks

As one of my final pieces of work at Benefit, I had to photograph, airbrush and re-touch 3 images of the ‘Nature’ looks for Bestival 2012. I was extremely flattered to be asked to model for the ‘Peacock’ make-up, and obviously couldn’t take my own photo in this instance! When airbrushing and retouching, I kept the looks as natural and as realistic as possible. As someone trained to airbrush photographs, I like to keep the subject looking ‘human’ and naturally beautiful! I used Photoshop to edit the pictures. Here are the 3 final photos. We have the Leopard, Peacock and Butterfly make-up looks. I hope you like them!

Cheeky Haul!

A Cheeky Little Shopping Spree…

Cripes it’s hot! I shouldn’t complain, really, since it’s the first slither of Summer we’ve seen this year, but seriously. Yikes! Today I was off work to pay a visit to Blackheath hospital at 9am. 5:30am alarm = brutal. When I got home at 3pm, I lay down, had some Vienetta, and then promptly fell asleep (at least until the window cleaner banged on the door)! Before I came home I stopped off at Westfield in Stratford. I thought I’d pay another visit now before it all starts going mad for the Olympics! Thankfully I got their early and it was relatively quiet, which meant I could peruse the many wonderful beauty, skin care & perfume brands in John Lewis at my leisure. I really really want a John Lewis in Chelmsford. I love it! (hint hint JL!). I spent God know’s how long in there; but came out with just a few (but expensive!) products. 1. Bio-Oil 60ml 2. Caudalie Beauty Elixir 100ml 3. YSL Touché Éclat Foundation (Sample) 4. Liz Earle Instant Boost …

Beauty Haul – July 18th 2012

Home at last! Up at 6am, home around 9pm. Today was spent in the Soho Hotel in London with the whole of the wonderful Benefit Marketing Team for our annual brainstorming session. It was my first one and it was so much fun! Games, ideas and laughter; I loved spending time with the team and getting to know them better! I’m pretty reserved at work, so this was a really nice time-out to get to know my colleagues more! At the end of the day, our lovely Marketing Manager Amanda, gave out an award to every member of the team. I got ‘the “The Fantastical Numbers” Award for the Most Ultimate Facebook Flogger’, seeing as I got our Fan Page to over 300,000 (with an increase of over 5000 in 2 days, may I add!) I was so chuffed! It’s great when you see your hard work paying off! As an extra gift, we all received these beautiful Limited-Edition They’re Real Mascaras with Swarovski Crystals! Beautiful! On the way home from Tottenham Court Road I …

This Week In Pictures #3

Ahhh, it’s Sunday; the day of doing as little as humanly possible. I’ve enjoyed today, catching up on my favourite bloggers and their latest posts. I really loved Essie Button’s ‘Beauty Haul & Small Update’; her videos are brilliant and her sense of humour and jokes really made a great start to my day! So what have I been doing the past week or so… Well, my love affair with Clarins has grown into something of an obsession and I bought more in the way of skin care as well as their Natural Lip Perfector in 02, which is perhaps one of my new favourite lip products. I’ve also indulged in their Beauty Flash Balm as I heard amazing things about it. I’ve been using it for almost a week and, I love it. Simple. I have to say something quick on the Lotus Face Treatment Oil too. It’s amazing. I was so worried about putting oil directly on my face, but in 2 weeks, my skin is looking so much healthier. I still have …

This Week (Or 2…) In Pictures June 24th 2012

Oh my goodness, where did I disappear to!? I’ve been so busy it’s just silly! The past two weeks have been insane – the whole of Benefit HQ has been working incredibly hard to organise and manage the amazing Mascarathon (which if you haven’t heard of by now, where have you been hiding?!). I’ve been helping out in my usual Digital way – photography, videos, social media… I even took a trip to Newport, Gwent and Gloucester! I’ll talk more about that over the weekend, though, so stay tuned! (However, PLEASE do donate to Refuge, the charity we’re supporting – so far we have raised a phenomenal £61k and tomorrow is the final day. We’ll continue to support them and the women and children affected by domestic violence, so you can continue to donate – every penny we help raise for them counts – THANK YOU. Donate HERE. What else have I been up to? OH. Quite importantly, I’m now blonde. I know, crazy, right? It wasn’t deliberate! I accidentally dyed my hair BLACK. I …

No7

No7 Shine Free Make-up Base

” class=”aligncenter” width=”500″ height=”354″ /> I brought this last week as I had a spare ‘£5 off No7’ Boots Voucher going to waste and you know what? I’m glad I didn’t pay full price for it. I have oiliness on my T Zone and a bit on my chin, but the No7 Shine Free Make-up Base did nothing to combat the resulting effects. I’ve used it a few times now and on every single occasion my skin ends up looking flaky and dry. I applied it after moisturiser and yet it was almost impossible to blend. Even with a tiny amount I struggled to get it smooth or workable. After applying it where necessary, I’d then put on my foundation (Estee Lauder Double Wear). It caused it to not only go cakey, but almost discoloured. My nose felt dry and my skin really uncomfortable. I’ve seen so many reviews for this product and it genuinely seems like you either love it or hate it and unfortunately for No7, I hate it. It’s a real shame …

Clarins

Clarins Fix’ Make Up

Okay, so when it comes to make up, I’ve always had 2 problems. Either the shades available don’t compliment my skin or after an hour or 2 it starts to wear off, cake and my skin looks unclean and dull. I also have the problem with half my make-up coming off onto my iPhone when I make a call. This doesn’t seem to change despite the different foundations, powders etc. that I’ve used. Like most girls, I find myself doing my make-up in the morning, feeling great with how it looks when I’m done, but by the time I’ve reached work and checked my complexion in the mirror, it seems the journey alone has caused my make-up to start moving. I have Dry Combination skin; I particularly suffer oiliness around my T-Zone and chin with slight dryness on my cheeks. These are the areas that are affected the most and I’ve been dying to find a product or foundation that will stand both the environment and my phone! I think I’ve found it with ‘Clarins’ …
