Social Media At Lipsy

Creating artwork for Lipsy’s social media channels was one of my main responsibilities. Social Media is an area I’m very passionate about, especially in terms of design, technology and marketing strategy. I brought my knowledge and experience from Benefit Cosmetics to the table and it put me in very good stead with the Social Manager! I designed for Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google+, Instagram & Pinterest. I’ve included just a few examples of my work below (I literally have HUNDREDS), so let me know what you think! Facebook Cover Photos I was lucky enough to be tasked with redesigning all of the content that Lipsy posted on their Facebook page. It was a big project; one that required me to create a variety of designs that were modern, on-brand and consistent. The layouts and styles I designed proved so popular with the company that it was decided they should be utilised over other branding collateral such as customer emails and the website. Even though I left the company in November last year, my designs are still …

Achievements at Benefit

Whilst working at Benefit I was lucky enough to have my work recognised on a number of occasions. My work through Wildfire Interactive and my Social Media Management and Development of the Benefit Facebook page made it into a case study and as a result, in the Metro Newspaper. It spoke about how my template and tab designs significantly improved fan engagement and interest. The artwork I created for competitions and events also saw a big increase in activity. The second is an award that I achieved from the CEO of Benefit Cosmetics. The UK Digital Dept (my boss and I), had seen the biggest growth and development of ALL the offices internationally. This was easily one of my proudest moments, and knowing that my commitment to the Benefit Social Media channels, the visuals I produced and my strategies directly influenced this award is something I’ll always treasure. The last is something I got from the Benefit Marketing Manager. In my time at Benefit, I took the Facebook fans from 45,000, to over 400,000. This …

Benefit Bestival Looks

As one of my final pieces of work at Benefit, I had to photograph, airbrush and re-touch 3 images of the ‘Nature’ looks for Bestival 2012. I was extremely flattered to be asked to model for the ‘Peacock’ make-up, and obviously couldn’t take my own photo in this instance! When airbrushing and retouching, I kept the looks as natural and as realistic as possible. As someone trained to airbrush photographs, I like to keep the subject looking ‘human’ and naturally beautiful! I used Photoshop to edit the pictures. Here are the 3 final photos. We have the Leopard, Peacock and Butterfly make-up looks. I hope you like them!

Edinburgh Fringe Festival!

I’m in LOVE with Edinburgh. Last week I was lucky enough to spend just over two days in the Scottish capital for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. I was there to take pictures, Tweet/Facebook & meet a few lovely bloggers. I’m going to keep what I have to say short and sweet, despite the huge list of things I have to talk about, as I feel my pictures below more than represent just what an amazing time I had! The architecture is exquisite, the sights even more so and the people were really friendly. The weather was beautiful! & if that wasn’t enough, I also went to see one of the semi-finals for Funny Women and saw last years winner, Lara A King, headline! I met 3 wonderful bloggers, Adrienne from The Sunday Girl, Lori from Miss Lori Loves & Gillian from Elevator Music. All three were so lovely, they made my first visit to Edinburgh even more special. Sharing tips, tricks & laughs as well as being shown the sights, is an experience I’ll never …

This Week In Pictures #4

So we’ve reached Sunday again! Not that I’m complaining; I’ve had a pretty great week off of work (hence my absence)! I say ‘week’ in the title of this post, but to be honest, some of these pictures go back to mid July! This week I’ve relaxed, pampered myself & built up my portfolio; but the highlight has most definitely been seeing the Judo on Thursday at the ExCeL in London! Getting to support Britain’s own Gemma Gibbons who went on to win Silver that day was an experience I can’t even put into words. I’ll do a separate post on it, but what I will say now is that I am SO proud to be British. We, in comparison to so many other countries, are a tiny little Island. But that hasn’t stopped us producing phenomenal athletes that are truly inspirational and talented. As it stands, we’re THIRD in the Medal Table with 16 Gold Medals, 10 Silver and 10 Bronze. Yesterday, Super Saturday, was one of the most moving and breathtaking nights ever …

Beauty Haul – July 18th 2012

Home at last! Up at 6am, home around 9pm. Today was spent in the Soho Hotel in London with the whole of the wonderful Benefit Marketing Team for our annual brainstorming session. It was my first one and it was so much fun! Games, ideas and laughter; I loved spending time with the team and getting to know them better! I’m pretty reserved at work, so this was a really nice time-out to get to know my colleagues more! At the end of the day, our lovely Marketing Manager Amanda, gave out an award to every member of the team. I got ‘the “The Fantastical Numbers” Award for the Most Ultimate Facebook Flogger’, seeing as I got our Fan Page to over 300,000 (with an increase of over 5000 in 2 days, may I add!) I was so chuffed! It’s great when you see your hard work paying off! As an extra gift, we all received these beautiful Limited-Edition They’re Real Mascaras with Swarovski Crystals! Beautiful! On the way home from Tottenham Court Road I …

This Week (Or 2…) In Pictures June 24th 2012

Oh my goodness, where did I disappear to!? I’ve been so busy it’s just silly! The past two weeks have been insane – the whole of Benefit HQ has been working incredibly hard to organise and manage the amazing Mascarathon (which if you haven’t heard of by now, where have you been hiding?!). I’ve been helping out in my usual Digital way – photography, videos, social media… I even took a trip to Newport, Gwent and Gloucester! I’ll talk more about that over the weekend, though, so stay tuned! (However, PLEASE do donate to Refuge, the charity we’re supporting – so far we have raised a phenomenal £61k and tomorrow is the final day. We’ll continue to support them and the women and children affected by domestic violence, so you can continue to donate – every penny we help raise for them counts – THANK YOU. Donate HERE. What else have I been up to? OH. Quite importantly, I’m now blonde. I know, crazy, right? It wasn’t deliberate! I accidentally dyed my hair BLACK. I …

No7 Shine Free Make-up Base

” class=”aligncenter” width=”500″ height=”354″ /> I brought this last week as I had a spare ‘£5 off No7’ Boots Voucher going to waste and you know what? I’m glad I didn’t pay full price for it. I have oiliness on my T Zone and a bit on my chin, but the No7 Shine Free Make-up Base did nothing to combat the resulting effects. I’ve used it a few times now and on every single occasion my skin ends up looking flaky and dry. I applied it after moisturiser and yet it was almost impossible to blend. Even with a tiny amount I struggled to get it smooth or workable. After applying it where necessary, I’d then put on my foundation (Estee Lauder Double Wear). It caused it to not only go cakey, but almost discoloured. My nose felt dry and my skin really uncomfortable. I’ve seen so many reviews for this product and it genuinely seems like you either love it or hate it and unfortunately for No7, I hate it. It’s a real shame …

This Week In Pictures

It’s been a long week and a shorter weekend (funnily enough). I can’t believe I’m back to work tomorrow! This week I got some late-arriving Birthday presents, including a BEAUTIFUL personalised ‘Carrie Style SATC’ necklace with a Swarovski green crystal from my mum, a necklace and earrings from a friend and – possibly the most exciting – Seasons 1 & 2 of The Vampire Diaries. I ADORE this series, so I am super pleased! Yesterday I went out to exchange a few things my mother had brought me (they didn’t fit unfortunately) and came home with Bronze Mid Heel Court Shoes from Dorothy Perkins, which are just gorgeous and surprisingly comfortable. I also bought some much needed new underwear! Matching sets, of course, from La Senza. I also tried on a stunning purple dress from Coast, which I hopefully will wear at Benefit’s Glamouriety event on June 18th. I haven’t bought it yet; £125 is a fair bit to spend on one item and I’m waiting for one of Debenhams’ many spectaculars! I also ‘ordered’ …

My Birthday

The past few days have been amazing; I’ve been a very lucky lady! It was my Birthday on Sunday and I’ve celebrated turning 23 in many brilliant ways! On Thursday last week, I went to see Les Miserables with my dad, his new partner and my twin brother. It was FANTASTIC! The most mesmerising spectacle of art I’ve ever seen! The music is simply perfect and it makes the whole show that extra bit special. I can’t begin to describe how in love with the musical I am – I left the Queen’s Theatre at gone 10pm, inspired and elated. I’ve wanted to see the show for years, but had never found anyone to go with. My desire to see the musical stemmed from seeing a 10 minute performance on the Royal Variety performance back in 2010. It marked the 25th year the show had been on stage. It had four of the actors who played the lead of Jean Valjean, and their voices were stunning. I knew then I already loved it! For those …

Spring Time Apps, Competition & Awards!

Again, it’s been about a month since I last wrote! As usual work is incredibly busy, so I struggle to find the time to write more often! (I’m aware one of my Resolutions this year was to write more on my blog, but I HAVE made an effort to branch into style and beauty, so it’s not all bad really…!) First off is an update to my Top Sellers application on Facebook. I did a post about creating this ages ago, but I’ve given it a new lease of life this month to go with our more current products; Hervana and Cabana Glama. Not to mention our two most popular products, They’re Real & Porefessional. Here are some pics to take a look at. You can see how it’s changed! The Debenhams Beauty Award Winners were also announced a few days ago and amazingly we won 6 different categories, including ‘Best Mascara’, ‘Best Blusher’ & ‘Best Primer’! The visual is something I designed for both our Benefit blog and for Facebook/Twitter. For a small piece …

Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow & The Tour!

On the 31st of March, Benefit Cosmetics launched their first and new liquid foundation, Hello Flawless Oxygen WOW. It’s make-up that brightens whilst giving a natural and luminous complexion. The oil-free formula with SPF 25PA+++, builds from light to medium coverage while feeling barely there. It also helps boost cellular respiration and prevents the signs of ageing. It comes in 9 different shades. To support the launch of our new foundation, we have a huge roadshow that’s been travelling the length of the UK and Ireland, inviting many of our bloggers along to help promote Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow. The main stops on the tour are Glasgow, Swansea, London, Norwich, Manchester and there will even be a stint in Cork & Dublin! My boss, Jasmine, is currently heading up the roadshow with our Head Makeup & Trend Artist, Lisa Potter-Dixon, but I was lucky enough to attend the London event – the first stop on the trip! I designed the invites for each city and group of bloggers. I sent them out and arranged the …

My Benefit Allocation!

My Benefit Cosmetics allocation came today; happy happy days! I’ve needed some new products for ages, so this is a very welcome gift! It’s also a wonderfully hot and sunny day, PLUS it’s almost the weekend, so I am definitely a happy bunny today! I’ll be doing a post soon on the Hello Flawless Oxygen WOW Event I attended on Tuesday, so keep your eyes peeled! Enjoy the sun all, spring is almost here!!

Change Is Good, Right?

Okay, so as you can probably tell if you’re reading this, my blog has got itself a snazzy new look! I’ve used a free template available from WordPress, but I’ve manipulated it a bit to suit me! What do you think? I’m pretty pleased with it actually! I’ll keep this as a really brief update before I pop my tired self to bed, all is generally going well over here. I’m having roughly two weeks holiday starting next Tuesday (Thank God, I need it), and I’ll not only be continuing my freelance work, but I’ll be teaching myself DreamWeaver, CSS and XHTML. I really plan to sit down and learn as much as I can in the hope that I will expand my skill set even further! I’ve got an Event at Tower 42 tomorrow with Benefit Cosmetics, for our new Foundation launch. It’s going to be a long day, but I get to be in a very posh building in a dress for an evening; so I can’t and won’t complain! I’ll be tweeting …

I’m Back!

My God, how long has it been?! 4 maybe 5, weeks? The main reason for my disappearance is that my wonderful computer, Dave, died on me. I managed to somehow survive for over 3 weeks, but it meant I was limited with what I could do in terms of anything on here. (Not great when one of your New Years Resolutions was to make sure you write on your blog far more often…). But the most important thing is that I have returned! & I’m here to stay! (hopefully; technology permitting…). So what have I been up to? I’m back at Benefit after a ‘fun’ four weeks off. My neck condition has been playing up royally and I was struggling to get about as well as sit at a computer all day. To be honest I had migraines most of the time and just slept! I’m not exactly better and I’m waiting on my MRI results, but hey – I’ve got to work; I NEED to work! It’s a waiting game for now, but my …
